India is a land of diversities but united. I always feel proud to be Indian and we also want our future generations to feel proud of our country and be a responsible citizen. Therefor it is very important to know the culture and traditions of our country. In few days we will be celebrating Republic Day Of India, so it is the best time to know some amazing facts about Republic Day Of India.
Significance of 26th January- Republic Day Of India
26th January celebrates the nation’s freedom and being a republic nation. On 26th January 1950 India’s constitution came into effect that replaced the Government Of India Act of 1935. Hence Republic Day is the celebration of formation of Indian Constitution. Dr.B.R.Ambedkar was the head of drafting committee of Constitution Of India.

The official celebration of Republic Day is held in national capital i.e New Delhi. Spectacular parades takes place at Rajpath in a view to pay tribute to our motherland. The parade showcases India’s rich culture and its unity in diversities. There is Beating Retreat on 29th January that is official closing ceremony of Republic Day. It is performed by the three wings of the military, the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.

1. We all know that the parade on 26th January is done at Rajpath, New Delhi but previously during the years 1950 to 1954, the parade was held at Irwin Stadium ( now known as National Stadium), Kingsway, Redfort and Ramleela Maidan.
2. Every year a guest of honor is invited for the parade of 26th January. The first guest invited in 1950 was President of Indonesia Dr. Sukarno.
3. Rajpath was earlier known as Kingsway but once India got freedom it is known as Rajpath.
4. The Constitution of India is the longest written constitution all over the world.
5. The President of India hosts the national flag of India and 21 gun salutes are given to mark the honor.
6. One of the most amazing facts of Republic Day of India is the timing of gun salute exactly matches with the total time of national anthem of India. The first firing is done on the starting of the national anthem and the last firing is done exactly after 52 seconds.
7. Every year President of the country will address to the nation on Republic day and Prime Minister will address to the nation on Independence day.
8. The National Emblem Of India i.e the Lion Capital Of Ashoka Pillar was adopted on 26th January 1950 which is used for all official purposes of India.
9. Several groups participate in parade ceremony of Republic Day and they cover a distance of 9km. Judges are seated all through the way who judges each group based on 200 parameters and then declare the best marching group.
10. The most interesting part of Republic day celebration is the Flypast by Indian Air Force where 41 air crafts take off from different locations of India and reach the Rajpath at fixed time.
