A parent should never put effort to create a bubble for their kids to make them happy. Rather they should try to take steps to teach them how to be happy in life. You can never feel happiness until you have experienced the dark days of your life.
Raising a happy child doesn’t mean to raise a child who will always keep smiling throughout their life. PositivePsychology has mention psychologist Daniel Gilbert’s view on this, who is a psychology professor at Harvard, that happiness is the ultimate goal of virtually all the decisions we make in life (Gilbert, 2010).
Study of Neuroscience says happiness is the driving force of success. When you are happy, you feel positive and the positivity gets the best out of you. One thing you have pointed out here is success vs happiness. Both are different. Also, another point that impacted me was make yourself happy first.
It’s true the if you aren’t happy you can’t dedicate your 100% to them. All your points are from practical life.
Often parents don’t realise that they can emotionally hurt kids too.
Very thoughtful list of ways to raise a happy child. Great quote from the Dalai Lama, too. Perfectly fit your post!
This is so important! I don’t have any kids so I don’t feel like I’m qualified to write about how to improve their lives, happiness etc. But when I read blogs like these I think back to my childhood and how much my childhood could have been improved had my parents been more educated and not broken by the system that raised them.
It is true that you cannot teach what you don’t have. Like you have to be happy first before you can teach happiness.
I think it’s definitely an intricate balance. I’m trying to hold back and let them deal with those hard feelings.
This is all really helpful for parents. I try to make sure that my children have space and get to have time to themselves as we all need that. I do also try to get them to focus to make sure they do their work well.
Letting children feel all their feelings is so key!
Yyyeeesssss! I am all in for these tips! Taking care of yourself as the parent is the most important step!
This is a great article for all parents. I’m sure 99% of the parents out there want their child to be happy. I 100% agree about allowing a person to feel sad. You can’t have one thing without the other. If you repress a child’s ability to cry, then you’ll just end up with a depressed child. Strength is the ability to be vulnerable. Thanks for helping to create amazing children!
I agree with you, the beginning years of a child are extremely important, and it is our duty to teach them what to expect from life and how to deal with it.
I love this! Its so important to do these things for our keys!
I agree life is not so easy for anyone and child feeling sad is not a big problem.
