Practicing self care and making it a habit is not that much easy. Showing some care and love for yourself regularly is very essential in your life. Few weeks back my daughter was reading a fable and the moral of the fable was “You should be kind and compassionate toward other people.” I too agree it is very good to be kind and compassionate toward other people, but we should also learn to be kind to ourselves too. Anyone trying to live healthy and sustainable life need to cultivate the habit of self care. Initially practicing self care may be intimidating, but practicing it regularly will refresh your mind, body and soul. But no worries, in this post I will share you 10 simple ways to start practicing self care which only need your intention to choose self care and end result will be worthwhile.

Self care is giving an extra dose of love and care to yourself every day. It is a concept of taking care of your mental, physical and emotional health. We spent our day loving and taking care of everybody, and in this hustle bustle we forgot to take care of ourselves. And this results in reduced energy, less positivity, anxiety and depression. You yourself is responsible for your well being. If we ignore ourselves how can we expect to lead a healthy, peaceful and a happy life. It is vital to invest some money and time on yourself though there are many simple self care activities that are free. Many people give excuse of time, they defend themselves by saying they don’t have enough time for this. These excuses result in physical and mental ailment in the future.

Self care is not selfish neither luxury, if you pay ample attention for your well being, you just bring out the best version of yourself and your positivity will be transmitted to the other people around you. Unless you are at your best, you cannot give your best to other people.

1) Enough sleep

The most important yet simple way of self care is to have enough sleep. An adult human being need approx 7 to 8 hours of good sleep. Usually the increased work pressure decreases the amount of sleep in our life, and we failed to realize that it affects our productivity and also causes many health issues. Our mind and body both need an adequate amount of rest to remain healthy, fresh and energetic throughout a day.

2) Eat healthy

You can’t stay healthy if you don’t eat healthy. Nourishing your body is a part of self care. Eat at right times and right food to be at yourat best. Eating healthy food not only makes us healthy but also makes us happier. Healthy eating habit is an investment in yourself and your life.

Every individual loves to do something other than their assigned job. But sometimes we ignore our own interests and passion in our busy schedule.We should have some “me time” to explore ourselves and do what we love. Start follow your passion and love your life. These simple activities will have a large impact on your life to lead in a better way.

8) Give treat to yourself

Give treat to yourself by gifting some time to do nothing or something that makes you feel happy and pampered. Like go for shopping, enjoy some services at a salon or have a cozy setup at your home and sip coffee there by reading your favourite book. Go for a day outing with your friends or prepare any delicious meal for dinner. Do whatever that make you happy. Just you need to enjoy the time and it will heal your tensions and stress.

9) Show gratitude

Try to make someone’s day and I am sure this will make you very happy. This is an important way to practice self care emotionally. Listening to someone, appreciating others for their achievements, saying thank you for little favors or do someone free favors. Try to find little ways to show gratitude in your life, this will help you to lead a peaceful and happy life.
