  • Never Compare Yourself With Others You should always focus for your betterment but never compare yourself with others. Comparing yourself with others will demotivate you and will make you less-confidant. It will degrade your self-worth. In the process of your comparing with others you overlook your own strengths and power.
  • Speak Up Always be vocal, never afraid of expressing your opinions and views. Speaking for yourself is very essential for every individual specially for women as our society take them as granted for many situations without knowing their opinions. • There may be failures This is one of the most important lesson of life that every mother will teach her daughter. It is ok to fall, but you need to stand up again. Failures are the experiences you are gaining in your journey. Failures doesn’t mean that you can never reach your goal, it is just an indication to take another path to reach your goal.
  • Find happiness in little things I firmly believe on this tag line. I teach my daughter to feel the happiness in all the little things that we do regular. In the wait to happen something big, we will loose all the happiness in little things. Live in the moment and enjoy all the simple things. • Learn to say no It is difficult to say No to someone where you fear that your no will affect your relationship or simply you don’t want to disappoint or hurt that someone. But you should be very honest with your response. This was very challenging for me in my life to say No, sometimes after saying yes unwillingly I felt over burden on myself. We should understand the fact that saying no doesn’t mean selfish or being rude. It is only the boundary that we set for ourselves. It is not possible to say yes to everything to everyone. Learn to say no and feel empowered and free.

  • Embrace your mistakes Mistakes, failures will be there in the journey of your success. Take your mistakes positively. I have seen in my life that success doesn’t come so easily. Embracing your mistakes is one of the important life lessons for a daughter, that a mother will want her to teach. Doing mistakes is the process of achieving something. No mother will love to see her children failing but we need to make them understand that they should accept their fall and learn from them.
  • Be independent In this era of competitions, it is very necessary for a mother to teach her daughter to be independent, not to be depend on someone. They should be financially and physically independent but they should also aware of the fact that during difficult times they should not hesitate to share their problems with family.
  • Don’t do unhealthy compromises Compromise is not wrong but to an extent it is acceptable. We always tell our daughters to compromise. But it is very dangerous when compromise go beyond a limit and it is over-compromise. And a mother should make her daughter aware of unhealthy compromises and should strictly avoid it.
  • Choose your companion wisely I know I can’t take my daughter’s decision every time. She should have the freedom to choose or take her own decisions in life. So being a mother I should teach her, how her decisions can affect her life. The people around you can make your life heaven at same time hell too that depends upon your choice of people. So always choose your companions with whom you spend most of your time wisely. Try to keep yourself away from toxic people.
  • Know your worth Teach your daughter to value themselves. She knows her worth and nobody can decide that. Her value doesn’t depend on other’s actions or reactions. She should not give right to anybody to set limits for her.

Great list! It’s so important to teach girls to speak up for them selves. Sadly we live in a society that doesn’t seem to appreciate strong women. I believe if we start teaching them all young, maybe it’ll be better when they are older.

I only have son’s, but finding happiness in the little things is one thing that I also think is important to teach my boys.

I lOVED this article! I am a mom of boys and honestly, I try to relay these lessons to them. I don’t want them to be “a guy” I want them to be gentlemen. Love their bodies (my youngest has surgical scars from birth that are quite large) care for others and choose THEIR partners carefully. I always wanted a daughter but God had other plans. I want them to see the love and balance in their parents relationships. This was all so beautifully stated. My mom is my best friend. Best friend as an adult is also such pure joy
